Evelyn Kalani Hui, 73, of Waimea died July 30 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala, she was a retired pantry/food prep cook for Mauna Lani Bay Resort & Bungalows, the Mauna Lani Orchid and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Adriaan van Sluis, 99, of Kawaihae died July 13 at home. Born in Salatiga, Indonesia, he was a retired engineer who served with the Allied forces in World War II and was a prisoner of war for 6 years. Private services.
